I know the excitement that is running deep in your mind right now, so let’s get it in.

There might be thousands of eBooks and Blogs written to help start a blog but explained in techno terms and complicated procedures, which will lead a newbie to confusion. So keeping someone passionate and enthusiastic upcoming blogger like you in mind, I have created this post for you to start a blog in simple steps which will take only 15 minutes for your WordPress blogs to go online.

Don’t stay back any longer, hop in and follow the step by step procedures in the links below.

1. Choose Niche

Niche is something that you want to blog about. It is the topics or particular interest that you want to share with the rest of the world. It can be anything and there are no such set rules to choose a niche. However, always choose a niche that you are interested or something that you know more. Otherwise, it will be difficult for you to keep going and keep continuation.

To understand better, let me put myself as an example. I write and help others through my blogs to start up a blog, or enhance the blogging skills and increase the potential to earn more. So my niche of this blog is “blogging tips.”

2. Selecting the Best Blogging Platform

With the bloom on the internet, there are a lot of options you can opt for the blogging platform. But I highly recommend WordPress.org for the blogging platform. It is the best options if you do not have computer coding skills or want to start a hassle free blog.

Moreover, if you are looking forward to taking blogging professionally and start earning, then WordPress.org is the go. It will give your blog a dynamic design and you can blog instantly with it. No wonder it is used by millions and is my personal favorite. I use WordPress.org or self-hosted WordPress blog as my blogging platform for all my blogs.

This tutorial is therefore about starting a self-hosted WordPress blog.

3. Decide Domain Name

The domain name identifies your blogs from rest of the blogs. For example, the domain name for this blog is bloggingpreneurship.com. Whenever someone types my domain on the browser URL, it will be directed to my blogs. So domain name is a unique identity that helps users/ readers to find my blogs. There is no way that you can start a blog with a domain that is already been registered.

Likewise, you need to decide a unique domain name for your blogs. To help my readers to find my blogs I like keeping my niche words in the domain. For instance, bloggingpreneurship.com where “blogging” is the niche word.

Enter your domain in mind and check whether it is available or already been taken.

4. Buy Fast and Reliable WordPress Hosting

There are hundreds of company out there providing WordPress Hosting services which can easily confuse a newbie. The price for WordPress Hosting starts at as low as $1 and as high as $1000, but do you need all the features that an expensive host provides and do you get all the necessary features with the cheapest one?

Overwhelmed? Let me be straight. Like millions of bloggers out there, I recommend Siteground or Bluehost. Both of these hosting providers provide at affordable prices and it is the most reliable WordPress hosting services.

Disclosure: Contains affiliate links. (I get a small commission when you buy through my links, but you won’t be charged any extra penny more)

To get started with Siteground, you can either click the image below or CLICK HERE.

Web Hosting

To get started with Bluehost, click the Get Started image below or you can CLICK HERE.

And as a gift from Bluehost, you will get a free domain with every plan you choose.

I have created a guide on how to buy a Bluehost hosting account. You can check it by clicking the link below.

5. Install WordPress

This is the most fun part. If you have chosen either of the hosting providers mentioned above, you can directly open your hosting CPanel, and click on WordPress. You will be directed to a page, where you can install WordPress. Fill up the necessary fields and click the install button.

You will get a completion email and a notification. Now open a new browser, and type in your domain in the URL field. TADA! Your blog is online and it is ready to have fun with it.

6. Install Theme

The most important and my favorite part of blogging is to install themes. To do that, first, you need to learn to login into your WordPress Dashboard. This can be done in two ways. If you have successfully installed WordPress on your blogs, you can type in your domain name in browser URL and follow by either /wp-admin or /wp-login.php. Both are correct ways and it will lead to a page where you can input your user name and the password that you used at the time of installing WordPress in hosting CPanel.

Don’t panic or get overwhelmed with a lot of things in front of your screen. There is nothing to get scared of and with time you will realize how easy it is to start a blog using WordPress as a blogging platform. And yeah, you will thank me for recommending WordPress as your blogging platform.

So, in the left column, you can see all the tools and features that are available in WordPress, and depending on your installed plugins you can see additional tools and features (which will be covered next).

There are many themes, some are free and some are premium. To be honest, I have messed up a lot by considering a free theme during my initial blogging career. It made my site slow, my readers weren’t impressed and they did not receive a good reading experience. I switched to the premium themes and it was like a miracle. It made my site load faster, didn’t have to download or install unnecessary plugins coz the themes were already having features, the design was beautiful and dynamic, it provided a good reading experience for my readers. And at the end, I was able to earn extra cash from my blogs.

So if you want to take blogging professionally, then it is a wise decision to go with a premium theme.

The theme store THEMEFOREST is one of my favorite and I bought my current theme from it. If you want to explore some of the premium themes at best price, you can check it here.

Just hover on Appearance and click themes. And click “ADD NEW”, here you can install themes to make your blogs look dynamic and professional to impress your readers.
